Pet Import Requirements in Namibia
Dogs exported from USA to Namibia must comply with the following import requirements of Namibia:

1. An import permit is required for the export of dogs to Namibia.

2.  An official veterinarian of USA must certify the following: USA is free from rabies and Babesia gibsoni, Brucella canis, Trypanosoma evansi, Dirofilaria immitis, and Leishmania; dogs have been continually resident in USA since birth or imported from Namibia at least 6 months prior to the planned date of export; dogs originate from the territory, which is not under official veterinary restriction by the veterinary administration of the country of origin for any disease to which carnivores are susceptible; dogs have been vaccinated with a registered rabies vaccination at least 30 days but no more than 1 year prior to the planned date of export in the case of primary vaccination. Also the following information must be certified by an official veterinarian of exporting country: date of vaccination, type of vaccination and batch number; dogs were treated with praziquantel at a dose rate of 5mg/kg within 2 days of the planned date of departure; date of treatment.

Also certified veterinarian must confirm that within 4 days of the planned date of shipment, each dog was treated with an insecticide effective against killing ticks, lice and fleas. Date of treatment, active components and dosage used. Additionally, veterinarians must confirm that dogs have been clinically examined by an official veterinarian within 10 days of the planned date of export and were found free of internal and external parasites, contagious and infectious diseases to which the species is susceptible, and fit and healthy to travel.

Also dogs must be shipped in a container which conforms to IATA standards, which will be either new or disinfected properly before loading and are of such a nature that contact with other animals of a lesser health status, en route is prevented.
