Pet Import Requirements in Luxembourg

Cats and dogs are subject to specific regulations (EC) No. 998/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council: their owners must present a valid rabies certificate and any applicable health certificates (provided by home veterinarian).

Parrots and parakeets: birds of the lory, parrot, budgerigar, ara, cockatoo and other species of the family psittacidae. The importation, transit and re-importation of birds of the above species are allowed at the rate of 2 per family or person travelling alone. Also birds must be supplemented with a signed statement no older than 2 months issued by the veterinary service of the country of origin, certifying that they have been submitted for examination by a member of the family or by the person travelling alone and have been found free of fowl plaque, psittacosis, cholera, Newcastle disease, pullorum disease and Pacheco's disease.

If any requirment has not been observed the pet (cat or dog) will be vaccinated upon entry; no import restrictions for shipping of cats and dogs within the territory of the Benelux - Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg.
