Pet Import Requirements in Kenya
Cats and dogs must be accompanied by veterinarian good health certificate and rabies certificate. Rabies vaccination must be less than 1 year and a month at the latest prior to entry. Import permit must be presented upon entry. Same is available through Livestock Officer, Veterinary Department, Post Office, Kabete, Kenya. Allow 30 days from time of application for import permit. Fee: KES 500 for 1 pet. There is a 25% duty and VAT at 16% upon arrival.

Import of all live animals is prohibited unless consigned as cargo. Import (including transit) of domestic and wild birds from countries affected by Bird Flu is prohibited unless supplemented with a sanitary import permit issued by the Director of Veterinary Services.
