Pet Import Requirements in Israel
Max. 2 dogs and cats accompanied by their owner may be transported into Israel without an import permit. The pets must have been in the owner's possession for at least 3 month before crossing the border of Israel. A health certificate is required (it must be issued by an accredited veterinarian). It must also be endorsed by USDA-APHIS-Veterinary Services. The certificate should include:

1. A certification statement that the animals were examined and found healthy, infectious-free and don't have contagious diseases.

2. Date of rabies vaccination and vaccine used. Dogs and cats must be vaccinated against rabies not more than 1 year and not less than 1 month before arrival in the country. Dogs and cats under vaccination age (3 months) are not permitted to import.

More than two dogs and cats arriving with their proprietor require a Veterinary Import permit. A written application for the permit is to be shown not less than 10 days before the date of departure of the pets. The application must contain: type of animal, sex, breed, age, date of planned arrival in Israel, country of origin etc. There is a fee for the permit.

Animals arriving without their proprietors also require an import permit, regardless of the number of pets. The permit, if granted, will include all needed veterinary conditions and requirements for the animal.

Pets for which the veterinary requirements have not been performed, or suspected of a disease, will be quarantined for a period of time decided by the Director of Veterinary Services. Animals arriving in Israel without the above documentation will be returned to the country of origin or destroyed.
