Pet Import Requirements in Iceland
Import documentation: Import permit; Certificate of Health and Origin from a veterinarian issued within 10 days prior to the departure of pet with information on vaccinations required.

Cats and dogs are restricted for import in Iceland. Import licence have to be obtained before arrival from the Ministry of Agriculture, Arnarhvolur, Reykjavik, fax nr.: +351 5521160; http://www.landbunadarraduneyti.is. Pets are subject to quarantine. If you need more information - contact the Ministry of Agriculture.

A permit issued by the Ministry of Agriculture must be obtained prior to transporting a pet into the country. Upon obtaining an import permit, the shipper have to make the necessary arrangements for a four weeks' quarantine at the quarantine station in Hrisey - the single quarantine facility in Iceland. The telephone number for Hrisey is 354-466-1781. If the pet falls ill with a disease unknown in Iceland during quarantine, it will be destroyed at expense of the owner.
