According to the Honduran Embassy requirements, the owner needs a health certificate and USDA approval from a veterinarian, then are supposed to take it to the nearest Honduran Embassy (Consulate) for authorization stamp and a fee. Dogs also require an extra rabies vaccination certificate, distemper and hepatitis certificates.

The entry permit can be arranged upon arrival. It's useful to visit the vet for the health certificate is 10 days (or less) before an owner leaves for the trip. An owner should remember, that some vaccination are good for 2 years, others are only good for 1. Also the owner needs to check carefully with the airlines. During certain periods of the year, they won't allow pets to be shipped or they may limit the number of animals allowed.

Each pet will be identified by means of a microchip. It is the only acceptable method of identifying. The microchip used should comply with ISO Standard 11784 or Annex A to ISO standard 11785- otherwise the pet will need to be sent with its own scanner fixed to the back of the crate.
