Pet Import Requirements in Guyana
The owners have to contact Tourism and Hospitality Association of Guyana (THAG) prior to traveling. Their email contact is . Let them know your name, phone and fax number and your rough date of arrival. Also provide information on the pets as to type and number. The association will prepare a license for import based on your information. The license is then sent by them to the Minister of Agriculture for processing. Guyana’s authorities will assign a Veterinarian to inspect your pet upon arrival. You must notify the Veterinarian 24 hours before you enter Guyana.

Import Documentation: Original International Health Certificate issued by a USDA Accredited Vet (10 Days Prior to Departure); Original Rabies Certificate; Vaccination Records. For dogs and cats respectively: Canine Distemper; Parvovirus and Hepatitis; Feline Cat Flu-Feline Calicivirus; Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis; Chlamydia Psittaci; Cat Enteritis-Feline Panleukopaenia (Feline Parvo Virus); Microchip Implantation and Record Copy of Owner's Original Passport; Copy of Visa or Work Permit; Copy of Airway Bill (supplied by carrier). All of these documents  needs to be sent to your local USDA Office for their stamp of approval. Also make sure that the Health Certificate also indicates that the pet has no clinical signs of Aujossky's disease, distemper, rabies, leishmaoiasis and leptospirosis.

The Rabies must be done more than 1 month, but not more than 12 months, prior to the date of departure together with a nervous tissue rabies vaccine. An ISO-standard microchip is recommended and the microchip number must be put on the vaccination record and health certificate. There is no quarantine upon arrival in Guyana if all the abovementioned requirements are fulfilled.
